How much does music preparation, composing, and arranging cost?
This is the magic question, isn't it? Unfortunately, there isn't a magic answer. The best way to find out is to contact me and ask. Let me know the project size, number of songs, or length, with the voicing or instrumentation. What is the end purpose of the material? Music to be published requires more attention to details like margins and page layout. I don't charge the same for educational or religious institutions as I do for professional organizations.
Want a ballpark figure? Expect to pay around $35-$50 per page, depending on whether I'm actually arranging/writing or just doing basic music preparation. I am a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 7. If you have a contract with the AFM, you can refer to those rates.
